Monaco Grand Prix 2023
18/05/2023
The race that leaves everyone breathless is back from 25 to 28 May

At last we see the return of one of Formula 1’s most adrenaline-fuelled and long-established events, and definitely its most glamorous: the Monaco Grand Prix takes place from 25 to 28 May 2023.

Launched in 1929 by Antony Noghès, then president of the Automobile Club de Monaco, and racing driver Louis Chiron, the event has been part of the Formula 1 championship since the latter’s creation in 1950; today the Monaco GP is one of the most eagerly-awaited races in the competition. The event is anticipated with trepidation for several reasons, first and foremost the stunning setting – the city of Monte Carlo – but mainly the difficulties faced by the drivers, which make the race truly challenging: very narrow streets, hairpin bends, chicanes and, above all, tunnels, the fastest parts of the circuit.

This means that despite being the shortest course of the championship, it is also perhaps the most exciting, demanding maximum concentration and enormous skill from the drivers; it is no surprise that Ayrton Senna clocked up the highest number of wins here – six – followed by another great driver, Michael Schumacher, who won five times.

And this year there will be no shortage of thrills, thanks to the participation of top names in the world ranking: Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Fernando Alonso and home-grown Monaco champion Charles Leclerc, only seventh in the classification this year, but always capable of surprising us, especially on his home circuit.
